About Me
Hey, I’m Nate! I’m a film lover and film critic, and for the last year, I’ve been running Nate at the Movies. My love for movies is pretty newfound, and my full-time job is actually as an elementary music teacher. My film criticism has become quite serious recently, though, because as of November 2025, I’m also a proud member of the North Texas Film Critics Association! I’m honored to be part of such a great film community, and I hope my thoughts and reviews add to a discourse that’ll help the love of movies grow in DFW!
A little bit more about me before we talk shop. I’m a proud Texan, originally from San Antonio but now living in Fort Worth with my wife, Morgan, and our dog, Stanley. I’m also a proud alum of the University of North Texas, where I earned my B.M.E. in Music Education, and I’ve been an elementary music teacher for the last three years. Movies would be my life if I wasn’t absolutely in love with teaching!

I rate every movie I see on a 5-star scale, just like on Letterboxd. I’m a rather generous critic, so you’ll see many 3.5-star and 4-star reviews, but fear not: I’m extremely stingy with my 5-star ratings. Of the 928 films I’ve seen to date, only 49 have received the 5-star treatment, so if you see all 5 stars, you know it’s going to be good.
