Arco: A Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS. Arco (2025) Ugo Bienvenu After my depressing trip to Dallas earlier today for The Voice of Hind Rajab, I needed a cinematic pick-me-up, and Arco with Liz and Gabe was the perfect prescription. I’d had this movie on my watchlist since like September, so it was great to finally see it and check off the last of the Best Animated Feature nominees for this year. I’m glad to report…

Oh. What. Fun.: The Socks-In-Your-Stocking of Christmas Movies
Oh. What. Fun. (2025) Michael Showalter After wasting our time with Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 last night, Morgan lamented that we should’ve spent our time in the days before Christmas watching a Christmas movie. Luckily for Morgan, we spent our time more wisely tonight with Oh. What. Fun., and honestly, yeah, it was kinda fun. While the beats for the most part were nothing new, what made this movie enjoyable was its cast.…

David: Getting Closer to Godliness
David (2025) Phil Cunningham and Brent Dawes In an effort to take the pressure off of my fantasy football team on this playoff Sunday, I headed to the theater for an early screening of David, which I’ve had on my list for a while if only out of desperate interest. I’m not a big Angel Studios fan, but with the studio hyping it up so hard and believing it could take…

Little Amélie or the Character of Rain: What a Wonderful World This Could Be
Little Amélie or the Character of Rain (2025) Maïlys Vallade, Liane-Cho Han Jin Kuang I’m a big animation fan, as everyone should know by now, so when I saw the captivating animation and score in the trailer for Little Amélie or the Character of Rain, I got very excited. While KPop Demon Hunters has been mine and pretty much everyone’s de facto Best Animated Feature winner since July, after watching Little Amélie tonight, I think…

Zootopia 2: The Film Bad Guys 2 Told You Not to Worry About
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS. Zootopia 2 (2025) Jared Bush and Byron Howard After an insanely long and treacherous day of travel back to Fort Worth, I was ready to sit back and relax in my happy place and finally take in a great animated movie in 2025. Thankfully, that’s exactly what happened, and I was more delighted than I thought I’d be by Zootopia 2. I didn’t watch Zootopia for the first time until…

A Very Jonas Christmas Movie: An Inauspicious Start to the Season
A Very Jonas Christmas Movie (2025) Jessica Yu When I first saw the announcement for this movie, I told myself I wouldn’t watch it, but here we are. Not only did I watch A Very Jonas Christmas Movie—Morgan, Abby, and I made it our first Christmas movie of the season. Unsurprisingly, this movie was underwhelming given its Disney Channel-level budget and writing. Even though I love the Jonas Brothers, their acting skills…

In Your Dreams: A Netflix Nightmare
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS. In Your Dreams (2025) Alex Woo I like to get ahead of the game when it comes to Oscar-nominated movies, so I’ve been checking Variety’s list of predictions and gave In Your Dreams, one of their Best Animated Feature predictions, a go. I shouldn’t have. Netflix has always been hit-or-miss on their original films, and while they usually fare well with acquiring and then distributing animated films—think KPop Demon…

Light of the World: Redeeming the Age-Old Narrative
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS. Light of the World (2025) Tom Bancroft and John J. Schafer I remember hearing about both The King of Kings and Light of the World around the same time this year, and I initially believed Angel Studios would come out on top. Angel Studios left the door open for Light of the World to take the top spot on my 2025 Animated Jesus Movie List, and boy, did it ever do just…
