Animal Farm: The Worst Movie I’ve Ever Seen
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS. Animal Farm (2025) Andy Serkis May is undoubtedly going to be a big month of movies. From The Mandalorian & Grogu to The Devil Wears Prada 2, there are going to be a ton of good movies to see, so why did I kick it all off with Andy Serkis’ already critically maligned Animal Farm adaptation? I think I’m hoping to get this slop (pig wordplay absolutely intended) out of the way…

Little Gold Man Watch — My Thoughts on the 2026 Oscars Animated Short Film Nominees
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS. With a final push yesterday, my 2025 Oscars Death Race is complete! I got to see both the Live Action and Animated Short Film nominees in theaters yesterday afternoon, and with just a few hours until the Oscars start tonight, I’m pressed for time to get my thoughts on these short films out to you. In the order that I watched them, let’s move on to…

Hoppers: The Craziest Dam Movie of the Year
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS. Hoppers (2026) Daniel Chong Like many of Pixar’s recent releases, my expectations for Hoppers were tempered when it was first announced, but once the first trailer came out, I found myself hopeful in the project. Even with the similarities to Avatar (that they had no problem pointing out themselves), I was crossing my fingers. Then the positive reviews started rolling in, and I got excited. Could Pixar have another original…

GOAT: Steph Curry 4, LeBron James 1
GOAT (2026) Tyree Dillihay Day 2 of the Valentine’s Day Weekend Theater Crawl has come and gone, and GOAT was second on the docket. I’d actually become more and more excited about this one since it was announced last year. At that point, it seemed gimmicky and simple, but my tune changed once I turned my brain back on and remembered that Sony’s has been on fire lately. With their stellar, experimental…

Arco: A Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS. Arco (2025) Ugo Bienvenu After my depressing trip to Dallas earlier today for The Voice of Hind Rajab, I needed a cinematic pick-me-up, and Arco with Liz and Gabe was the perfect prescription. I’d had this movie on my watchlist since like September, so it was great to finally see it and check off the last of the Best Animated Feature nominees for this year. I’m glad to report…

David: Getting Closer to Godliness
David (2025) Phil Cunningham and Brent Dawes In an effort to take the pressure off of my fantasy football team on this playoff Sunday, I headed to the theater for an early screening of David, which I’ve had on my list for a while if only out of desperate interest. I’m not a big Angel Studios fan, but with the studio hyping it up so hard and believing it could take…

Little Amélie or the Character of Rain: What a Wonderful World This Could Be
Little Amélie or the Character of Rain (2025) Maïlys Vallade, Liane-Cho Han Jin Kuang I’m a big animation fan, as everyone should know by now, so when I saw the captivating animation and score in the trailer for Little Amélie or the Character of Rain, I got very excited. While KPop Demon Hunters has been mine and pretty much everyone’s de facto Best Animated Feature winner since July, after watching Little Amélie tonight, I think…

Zootopia 2: The Film Bad Guys 2 Told You Not to Worry About
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS. Zootopia 2 (2025) Jared Bush and Byron Howard After an insanely long and treacherous day of travel back to Fort Worth, I was ready to sit back and relax in my happy place and finally take in a great animated movie in 2025. Thankfully, that’s exactly what happened, and I was more delighted than I thought I’d be by Zootopia 2. I didn’t watch Zootopia for the first time until…
